As I understand it the outsider memberships dropped because many were from Delaware and new courts were provided there. Also new courts in OC.
Removing the outsiders there was a net increase of one pickleball membership between 1/31/2015 and 1/31/2016. Of course that sort of membership expansion should be expected for the country's fastest growing sport. Joe Hi Joe, It IS a fast growing sport and other places are striping courts. Some say they have gone down to Pocomoke City to play, and now we hear there are courts nearby in Delaware. That is why I mentioned the Berlin plans. I was told by the woman who answered the phone last fall that they were meeting every other Monday to discuss plans for the new venture. ( it was Ray Unger's wife....by the way. ) Why didn't Ocean Pines get involved with the this? They could provide Northern County facilities and share with us... as we let them share our amenities. We need some indoor courts. Seems that the Community Center courts are VERY popular. Maybe Berlin could help with this. We are talking about MOVING a playground, cutting down trees, storm water management.... etc etc to build a couple of asphalt pads with proper stripes on them. Many people could do that on their own patio for about $100. Are there an rec center gyms in the No. Wo. Co. ? The DC Rec. Dept. has given over three rec centers to daytime use for pickle ball. After school....the kids get them. It seems to work well. I imagine that is what they are doing in Pocomoke City. THIS IS WAY BEYOND STUPID! We need to explore more options before we TEAR UP OPA land and spend money needlessly! Nancy |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This is very telling. Am I reading this correctly? We lowered the rate to non property owners by $35.00, 16%, and lost 1/2 of that category of membership. Begs the question what are we doing wrong?
