Bill,
I'm sure you know that the tactics displayed were nothing more that political posturing as any momentum in possibly changing anything that could upset the balance of power of the current board majority will be met with swift and dismissive action. Although somewhat idealistic, I wish more property owners were informed, or at the very least, interested in how the actions of the current board majority affects them as members. Doug |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Speaking of the board's ineptitude regarding how to run a meeting, note that a motion was introduced, seconded, discussed and voted on, in the middle of the GM's report, rather than referring the issue to the secretary to have it brought up in New Business. Doug, This is an issue I brought to the Board two successive months last year. They were voting on the GM's capital purchases during his report and before Public Comments which effectively prevented any comments. To his credit, Tom Terry, then President, stopped that practice. His replacement however, does not have a working grasp of Roberts Rules of Order. I was told that in the past the board has allowed a committee chair to speak regarding the matter at hand. From 2006, when I began service on the board until this week, I have never known the Board to refuse to allow a vote to suspend the rules. What's more, I cannot recall there ever being a negative outcome to such a vote. Bill Z |
