Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Theft & Corruption at YC Msg# 1006148

Since your message is addressed to all directors I feel compelled to offer my personal reply on the subject. I totally agree with you. The membership deserves a explanation given the huge January payroll on a closed Yacht Club facility. The Association's management should be able to provide a specific dollar amount and the nature of the transaction that caused such unusual payroll expenditure. Unless there is a confidentially or non-disclosure agreement preventing the Association's management from releasing such information I am fully in support of doing so. Respectfully, Slobodan Hi Slobodan, I appreciate the time you took to write back to me, especially given the fact you've taken a big roll in a "thankless" job in light of all the events that have happened the last 2 years. With that said, there is a large disconnect with the members and the Board. Finding our news through newspapers and not by our own Board is not good. Hearing of a $2M deficit in the newspaper, back door deals with employees, mass firings, the list goes on and on (and on again). What happened to transparency? We drive down Ocean Parkway reading about the latest USCG Boaters Safety Course, Ladies Dem or Rep meetings, or the latest special at the YC, but we can't have 1 say *a special message from the BOD, check the OPA website* and our own OPA website can't have a response written, together by the 7 BOD and GM, to address major issues? This BOD has not addressed any of our concerns regarding the $2M deficit, raising our assessments because of total failure of prior decisions, theft, or even a forensic audit to which a large majority are demanding. With the exception of a few of your posts, and Ted's, this BOD has been totally silent. We dealt with the 'office politics' last year with the previous BOD and AGM, but the same gig is getting old. As association members, we trust our money is being spent to help the community, but the find out otherwise. As I have said before, the members need to hold our elected officials accountable. Our words, emails, and phone calls have simply not been enough. I, as well as other members in the community, are more than willing to withhold our assessment fee's until this BOD can represent the community the way they were elected to do so. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Tom, good evening, I am not sure what in the article triggered your comment. My reply to Gazette was not published. My response to the question the Board received is below: Since your message is addressed to all directors I feel compelled to offer my personal reply on the subject. I totally agree with you.
