I believe Boise put these in place during the development stage, to keep the construction people from living on site. The DOR goes on to establish the ARC with the mandate to establish, publish and apply their own guidelines. The guidelines established by the ARC include (section on rv and oversized trailers) "Section 800.2 Specific Guidelines. A. Location. Storage shall be wholly within the property lines of the owner’s lot and where possible, should be located behind the front building restriction line or behind the front line of the house structure and screened from public view. Storage shall be prohibited on any portion of the street or right-of-way." Mark
Hi Mark, Did you read the DR"s carefully before you signed on to purchase property in OP? We did and I was really HAPPY to see that they were not going to allow any tacky mess going on the community. Who in the world would want that??? It appears that they are not doing much of anything now to enforce the DR's and we should make a lot of noise about it. We were young and had little money in the early spring of 1969 when the real "Lot Selling" got going. We knew we could afford a lot that had low interest and 7 years to pay it off. That was when Family Camping was becoming very popular, and prospective lot owners were promised that by the next summer ..1970...that OP would offer a Free Campground until everyone could have water and sewer and could build a house. No trailers would be allowed on OP lots, and it was made very clear that NO CAMPING of any kind could take place on any lot. The Campground was a HUGE reason that so many young families bought lots in Ocean Pines, and those of us who used it brought our friends down to see the place. We became big " Lot Sales People for Boise Cascade. They realized how important we were, and treated us like Kings and Queens! Do YOU really think Ocean Pines would have been successful if there had been "squatters" and trailers parked on building lots? I, for one would not have given the place a second thought. We had never heard of an HOA before we came to Ocean Pines. We live in Silver Spring which began in the 20's and 30's when there was no such thing. We follow County laws and I guess they are "socialist" as you say. I WANT to have laws against tacky behavior. Where else have YOU lived that you were free to do whatever you please? If you don't like the OP rules, you should live in a place where you will not offend your neighbors. A large lot with tall hedges, tall fences, big trees etc. can hide your possessions. You could still use Ocean Pines amenities and not have to pay $930 a year...or whatever it is now. It would be very nice if OP could find some room to park trailers. At the White Horse Park campground across Beauchamp road, a large fenced in area was available so that campers would not have to pull their trailers back and forth. OP did not want to be in the Camping mode forever, but I wish they had not sold off all that land and saved some for storage. Nancy |

Storage shall be prohibited on any portion of the street or right-of-way." The ACR has issued at least 8 permanent permits, as listed in their meeting notes, over the past 5 years. At any rate, enforcement needs to be consistent, not arbitrary. |
