For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: ...the OPA board refused to hold the referendum based on the use of the word "should" in the petition question. Incredibly, a board-provided sample question in the applicable board Resolution on petitions uses the word "should" in the text. Incredible that the OPA Attorney bases the entire case on the word s-h-o-u-l-d. How much did he charge OPA members per letter? Even if "should" hadn't been in the sample question, what was wrong with it? ...the Board would not 'voluntarily' submit the question to referendum and that it opposes the proposed spending threshold because (in their view) 'it’s not appropriate.' If you have enough signatures for a referendum, then the membership has a right to determine what is appropriate. I'll need to watch the video before commenting further. |
