Joe, For sure there was a plan ready to go for permitting and the bidding process for the drainage and flooding we are discussing. Yes the driver of the cost as I have said before is the pipe size, materials used to make pipe and the size of storm you are designing for. The plan I am talking about had other things in it that may already be done I have no idea what has been done in 10 years but it can be easily obtained I would think. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I could agree with that scenario but do you agree that the existing infrastructure when changed should be upgraded for the new outfall? I think we need to do what we can, within reason, to eliminate the flooding. For example, let's do a new design to take the water down Beauchamp Road. Possibly base the sizing on a 25 or 50-year storm rather than a 100 year to reduce costs. Whatever we do should be based on a solid plan that will solve the problem, not throwing money around in stages with no final outcome planned. As for the fully comprehensive plan it was done 10 years ago just not sure where it went. Well, if that is the case why did we pay an engineer to do another comprehensive plan, a plan that was doomed from the beginning because there was no firm commitment that we could use some new pond on the old golf course for discharge? The answer, of course, is the latest comprehensive plan would be much cheaper -- assuming it was viable. It was not, unfortunately. More money down the drain. |
