Did anyone ever look into using the BIG HOLE behind White Horse park on our side of Beauchamp Rd. that I mentioned to you after a meeting a year or so ago? Nancy
Not that I know about. How would that location impact water flowing out of Bainbridge Pond? Joe Joe, there is an drain going out of Bainbridge Pond across Beauchamp Rd. to a place that holds water under the golf course over there. Many houses on Sandyhook Rd. back up to Beauchamp Rd. to a deep drainage ditch. The BIG HOLE is not so very far down the road and it is on Ocean Pines property and could hold some of the water when it rains very hard for a long time. Why are we spending money to go on other people's property to make a holding pond when we could likely have one on our own property?? When it rains hard Bainbridge Pond fills up and we need another place to hold the water until it can flow into the river. Many homes on Pinehurst, Sandyhook and Burr Hill have deep water in their yards. Did YOU ever go over to THE HOLE and look at it ..as I suggested? It backs up to the deep ditch on Beauchamp. There is a ditch coming from the pond under Sandyhook just above our house that goes over to Burr Hill and that is why they are flooded. That long ditch should be much deeper to protect those homes. One thing OPA could do is to MAKE SURE that there is no trash blocking the deep ditch to Bainbridge Pond on the Pinehurst side. I have gone over there in the dark many times with an iron rake to pull junk away from the culvert opening so the water could flow into the pond. The ditch on the road from Pinehurst to the pond often looks like a CANAL during a hard, long rainstorm. It is very late and I am tired. I hope you can understand what I am writing. Nancy |
