Starting a war chest does not sound friendly. Since when does it cost money to be involved.
Well, there is only one way to fight the board when it violates the bylaws -- go to court. Trendic followed the bylaws, got signatures on a petition on spending limits, and the board rejected the petition on absolutely ridiculous grounds. Trendic had no choice. Go to court or allow the board to get away with violating the bylaws. Trendic went to court. Trendic won. (And this has nothing to do with whether people agree with Trendic or not on the spending issue). The board violated the bylaws in a blatant attempt to bury a petition. Friendly has nothing to do with running OPA. If the board violates some law or governing documents the only recourse is the court. There is no better or more important "involvement" than holding the board's feet to the fire with regard to complying with our governing documents. |
