For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Unfortunately I am unable to sit down with you to discuss this face to face Well I am not going to do it here. I went thru being told that I could not do well in the north in my chosen profession because of my deep southern accent. As kid I had a lot of kids pick on me because of it. I ended up winning a National Championship as a kid , In New York, Which is in the north by the way and voted in to My professions national Hall Of Fame as a Adult. I just worked harder and it paid off. Do people of color have to work harder? Yes. Did I have to work harder because of my accent, being blind in one eye, having polio and being in a Iron lung, legs paralyzed. You bet I had to work harder. But I NEVER said WO is me. Why me. I did't make excuses. My father would not let me use the word can"t. Anybody can do anything if they really want to. Everyone has a load to bear. G |
