Tom,
Take a look at the animation...we can all point to successes among any people group. That does not mean systemic racism is a no issue. ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrHIQIO_bdQ |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Marty I understand what you're saying, about working hard and building a successful business. And others here are saying the same thing, like George Alston, etc. Those pushing the idea it happens because you are white guys have a big hole in their outlook. Take the example of our own yacht club restaurant operation. How many white guys have tried and failed to produce good financial results. Can we count on our fingers and toes how many managers, chief chefs, and entrepreneurs have experienced failure at operating our YC and were white guys. Then we get the current food organization doing a good job here. Is that because of the entrepreneur and his chefs and his managers are talented folks? OR only because they're white? Yet earlier, many white guys failed. Same principle applies in other businesses and professions. Talent and hard work are key components. Hope you can see what I'm thinking and why I disagree with the idea that success and failure are geared to the racial aspect. In fact I'd call it belittling, dismissive [even a tad insulting] to try to explain away any individual's success by observing his whiteness. My two cents. |
