Daria:
It was all of this PC crapola that made me become a “former“ broker. I use to teach a credited real estate course in the District of Columbia about how to have empathy and interact with a given customer. The DC Real Estate Commission revoked our certification and warned us about teaching the course because they believed it promoted discrimination. You must treat everyone exactly the same. Unbelievable! Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The VA itself acknowledges disparities in the VA: > First, providing access to health care doesn't, in itself, guarantee equal health outcomes. Second, the causes of health disparities in VA defy simple explanations, because the "usual suspects" of costs or overt bias are likely less important than other factors, such as gaps in health literacy and health activation; lack of cultural competence or unconscious bias among providers; stigma and other obstacles to accessing care, lack of trust in the health care system; and limited access to the community resources, networks, and social capital that support healthy living and appropriate medical care. And third, general improvement in the quality of care sometimes reduces disparities, but not always. > As a former broker you know that racial discrimination isn't just overtly treating someone different because of their skin color. Laws, rules, processes, behaviors, activities, etc., that result in disparity, even if unintentionally, also are discriminatory. |
