It is truly sad the degree of vitriol expressed by some community members and yes even occasionally by some board members. While politics is ugly and anyone holding a political/elected office needs to have a thick skin, as a community we should be better. The Board gets in trouble when it is not transparent, a lesson still needing to be learned in my opinion. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Reading all of this makes me unceasingly glad not to be involved in OP politics anymore. I regret that when I moved here four years ago, I had wide eyed optimism that my law career and serving on many County committees would be helpful and perhaps I could contribute. That, of course, did not end well. I thought Esther's group sounded like a good idea. Yeah, let's all get involved. Then, I was suddenly booted and I never knew why but believed it had something to do with me being on the Board. I am certainly not naive enough to believe that this doesn't happen everywhere. I was just disappointed to live in a community when my life and those of my family and pets are threatened. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that. But, now my life is peaceful being an attorney for children who are bruised and beaten by adults. Now, I find myself involved in something that matters. And, Joe, I thank you for your kindness in appreciating the limited contributions I was able to make. |
