Section 23: OPA Elections Subject: OPA Get Involved Msg# 1163832

An assumption unless you KNOW WHOM The mailings were mailed to, "probably cost in the range of $4000 if mailed to all association members.
A smart candidate may only be mailing to obtain support from those who have not expressed their personal support for any particular candidates. I would not waist money if I were becoming a candidate in an OP Election, without personally evaluating where I would in my opinion get the most support for my dollars invested in the candidacy, and especially since I'm sure many have seen in past actions the feelings and commitments of current members of the BoD and candidates, who have a sincere interest in the community for the future of all current and potential residents / members. "I tried to provide forum readers with facts related to each mailing, as with this most recent one." I feel when using words such as "Probably and if" leads to suggestion and conjecture trying to suggest to readers an interpretation of some facts such as IF mailed to all members, I never saw where anyone claimed a mailing to all members had occurred or was intended and possibly may be why whoever did the mailing did not request purchasing the list as you previously referred. Obviously, whomever did the mailing relating to candidacy has no intention of soliciting a client for money making base if they only did a limited mailing. Just my opinion. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Agree, postcard solicitations, and advertisements are much less expensive than full page adds in local papers. You must be kidding. Newspaper ads are less expensive, but also probably less effective than a direct mailer. This recent mailing probably cost in the range of $4000 if mailed to all association members. Also, unlike ads in local papers, a postal mailing can reach EVERY voter. I've written about several candidate support mailings over the years, raising the same sort of questions and comments I raise now. I tried to provide forum readers with facts related to each mailing, as with this most recent one. Again, if there are any factual errors in my commentary please let me know. |
