The developers at Riddle should also have been shut down until the County developed the infrastructure which the developer paid through impact fees upfront and usage fees to defray the cost.
I have no idea if Riddle is built-out or not. However, the issue for Glen Riddle, unlike the issue you faced 40 years ago on Ocean Pines, is that at Glen Riddle there is apparently not enough sewage capacity to handle the existing homes, much less any new ones. Their problem is the County-approved design doesn't seem to work very well. They have been trying to get it back to full operation for over two years. Meantime, they tanker-truck their sewage to the OP plant. I strongly opposed Pennington Commons and the shopping area hooking up to the OP sewage plant. It was the first outside of the Ocean Pines Subdivision. Allowing that to happen was a gold-mine gift from the County to the developer. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: OP development was shut down for well over a year because no building permits could be issued. This was due to inadequate sewage treatment facilities. Water and sewer go together in that equation. The developers at Riddle should also have been shut down until the County developed the infrastructure which the developer paid through impact fees upfront and usage fees to defray the cost. Maybe the deal was essentially, we'll use the OP facility until we absolutely have to spend further money. And maybe we'll even charge the developer in advance for the promise. |
