Military commanders have registered their objections to gaps created in the US radar defense curtain, by land based wind turbines. Swept under the govt carpet. Let's not imitate their carpet sweeping here.
Already discussed here months ago. Seems the January hearing was already a measure of public anti turbine views. And add to that the announcement yesterday that the Fenwick Island town council voted to join the Ocean City lawsuit. These are commitments far more significant than any suggestion its mere speculation. You could perhaps run your own straw poll. And be sure to mention the visibility of 10 miles here vs 26 miles offshore for the Virginia & N Carolina turbine projects. And you might also mention how some wind mill blades have shattered and have fouled up The Nantucket and surrounding beaches with sharp shards if fiberglass. Three shattered blades in four months should not be ignored Seems a disappointing view to contend folks raising objections are merely speculating. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We've yet to hear any comments here suggesting adding an OC vacation to their plans to watch those offshore turbines. Why would people in this forum be planning a vacation to OC? They already own property here. Also, recall the audience of several hundred folks at the January hearing. Likely on the side of preserving the viewscape I have no doubt. However, there is no empirical evidence that those turbines would severely damage OC tourism. Just speculation. Worst case scenario, could cause some deaths, from lost at sea accidents. Where is empirical evidence that has actually happened at other locations around the world? I'm clear in my opposition. I don't think they should be visible. As for all the other doomsday scenarios, pure speculation. |
