People should be aware that those immense turbine blades have very poor durability. About 4 weeks ago a blade broke off a wind turbine about 14 miles offshore from Nantucket. Six beaches were closed as sharp shards of broken fiberglass littered the beaches. Click Here Click Here
The OC project calls for turbines to be located 10.7 miles offshore. Seems those 100 turbines planned here are a catastrophe in the making. Three weeks later comes the headline: Vineyard Wind Turbine Blade Continues To Crumble As Company Announces Removal Plan Click Here Quote: ""Early this morning, portions of the remaining hanging sections of the Vineyard Wind turbine blade detached from the hub. . . . It was nearly one month ago that the Haliade-X turbine blade failed at the Vineyard Wind lease area southwest of Nantucket, sending thousands of pieces of fiberglass and styrofoam onto the island's beaches and the surrounding waters. The project remains shut down by the federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement . . . . Depending on wind direction, the town cautioned that more debris could potentially wash up on Nantucket beaches in the coming hours or days." Can we imagine the loss of tourism that could happen here with weeks of ongoing hazards in the local ocean? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Can anyone describe/explain where this 350-foot pier is proposed in West Ocean City for use by the wind farm operator? Is the proposed pier of 350 feet a replacement for the existing pier now at the end of Harbor Road? Yes and apparently the end of Martins Fish Co. which leaves the commercial fisherman in limbo for selling their catch. At the sake of posting in the wrong section, Maryland is listed as one of the worst states for business as well as retirees and, if you pay attention to National politics, Gov. Wes Moore's name continually comes up in a small list of Democrats who could potentially run for President and he is working on checking all the boxes to satisfy the liberal contingent of his party. We are fast becoming the California of the East Coast. He has nothing to lose on the Eastern Shore where the Republican vote, for all practical purposes, is meaningless compared to the Democratic registrations across the bridge. |
