If Gary Miller wants to have an event he can do so at Sports Core Pool, bring in refreshments, and pay the rental fee like any other party held at this venue.
One of the issues of having it at the Yacht Club Pool comes to parking as the County requires parking places exclusive for the restaurant, with a waiver provided by the County for Family Fun Nights. Gary should petition to change the name of Family Fun Night to just Fun Night, and approach the food and beverage manager to offer "adult" options for food other than hamburgers and hotdogs. The "adults" can just hang out on the pool side of the tiki bar all night where the singles can mingle, which was one of the reasons given for Sunsets and Cocktails. Problem solved. On another note, the Paint and Sip is not the only sponsored event held at Ocean Pines. Octoberfest is sponsored by the Chamber yet advertised and held in Ocean Pines (White Horse Park). Chamber just pays the rental fee just like the Paint and Sip. There are also events/classes for Aquatics and Racquet that registration goes through Ocean Pines, but the revenue goes to the instructor of the class. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Has anyone asked Bruce Bright for a legal opinion on this? It is an event promoted by OPA. Maybe Gary Miller can SPONSOR an adults-only event at the Yacht Club pool. What would be the difference? The ad makes no mention of a private SPONSOR. The ad indicated it is a Recs & Parks event, and registration is done through Recs & Parks. |
