I do not comment on social media often, but this is of critical importance to all Ocean Pines residents and others throughout the Worcester County. Commissioners Bertino and Bunting are fighting the good fight and needs our help. As you know, other Commissioners are proposing that OP residents and others in the county foot the bill for improper disbursements made to several water districts - - in particular Riddle Farm. Mystic Harbor and The Landings. Starting this upcoming fiscal year and setting the precedent for future years, all of us will be charged (literally) on our water and sewer bills to bail out these 3 water/wastewater districts. Over the next several years the estimate of your increased costs could be as much as $500.00 per year. All of these districts, are by statute, to be self sustaining (that is each district has to cover its own expenditures). The proposal that Commissioners Bertino and Bunting are fighting would sweep that requirement aside. If you live in Ocean Pines, be on the lookout for a blast email and other publicity on how to communicate with the county commissioners. If you know residents or businesses in West Ocean City, Lighthouse Sound, River Run, Newark, Assateague Point and Briddtertown get in touch with them and let them know what they can expect and that they need to communicate with the commissioners.
