Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Community Center Contract Msg# 388236

I suppose reasonable and rationale discussion doesn't fit with your present agenda... The only valid issue at this juncture is the cost...if the majority of the membership wants to bring the project to a screeching halt based upon that issue...that is their right. But throwing other personal preferences into the mix is uncalled for. Using this current debacle as a basis to further another agenda to alter the location and/or size is inappropriate...until/if this proposal goes completely south the board...each and every one of them...has a responsibility to fulfill the original promise to the members to the very best of their ability...even allowing a bit of wiggle room to account for the real world situation regarding escalating costs. No one should be starting a "new" community center project until the current one has been decided by the membership. If you have a problem with that position...so be it. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: HI BOB, JUST MORE "MEDIA GUY" B.S. YOUR "BASED UPON A PROPOSAL FROM THE BOARD" STATEMENT IS COMICAL. THE OPEG 4, GETS TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH PARTS OF THE "PROPOSAL" THEY ARE GOING TO RESPECT. THE MEMBERSHIP DOES NOT. I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS TIME, TO WELCOME YOU TO THE "END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS" CLUB. NOW, BOTH YOURSELF AND TOM STAUSS ARE CARD CARRYING MEMBERS. SINCERELY, MIKE BORLAND |
