W are there any statistics on injuries on non-wooden floors? I am sure there will be children playing there also. FYI Speaking of potential injuries to children, among the biggest potential problems with enclosed pools are increases in pediatric respiratory ailments/illnesses when the enclosures are not adequately ventilated and/or the pool chemicals are not adequately administered. Seems by virtue of enclosing pools, the evaporation of pool chemicals can cause unhealthy concentrations of these vapors in the air, thus the potential for respiratory ailments. The youth most at risk if enclosed pools are not properly designed and maintained are those with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma, etc. The second biggest problem with enclosed pools is moisture related structural damage that develop within the "non-pool" portions of the facility if, again, the ventilation/humidity control systems are not adequately designed to keep the "moisturized" air from reaching these portions. The above were compiled from reading various pool operator web sites. Others on the forum may have additional or differing info. Gene |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe are there any statistics on injuries on non-wooden floors? I am sure there will be children playing there also. In addition, at the last town meeting one of the arguments for a non wood floor was people will be dancing there and dinners served. There was some logic to that until I saw the layout which showed opposite the gym a very large room named "general purpose". |
