Hi WSheridan, Most gymnasium floors are wood and only rubber tennis shoes are allowed. We will have a "Multi purpose room" with dancing, chairs, tables and all kinds of other activities that would destroy a wooden floor. Simple common sense and taking the advice from folks operating other buildings where they have multi purpose room is a wise thing to do. Go over to the high school and ask them how much the maintenance cost is for their wooden floor.....Over $50K per year and they try to only have the people use tennis shoes. Respectfully, Ray |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe are there any statistics on injuries on non-wooden floors? I am sure there will be children playing there also. In addition, at the last town meeting one of the arguments for a non wood floor was people will be dancing there and dinners served. There was some logic to that until I saw the layout which showed opposite the gym a very large room named "general purpose". |
