Joe, Dave Furguson and our advisory group have been working on the cut repair or lack thereof. This was being done by contract, I believe it will be done in house pretty soon.Dick | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Here's an idea related to OPA costs on roads. Back when Ocean Parkway was paved a few years ago, the Board, as I recall (Doris Lloyd was pres) said that after roads were resurfaced there would be no more crosscuts. That policy, a good one I believe, is apparently gone, or the county sanitary people just ignore it. Two new homes have gone up on my street, resurfaced a couple of years ago. In both instances the sanitary workers dug a trench across the road to make a sewer and/or water connection. After a few days they returned and patched the cuts with blacktop. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, the backfill was not compressed properly prior to the blacktop patch and a pretty good depression resulted. Another couple of weeks later the OPA road crew came out and did a second patch over the first, again not a particularly good job. So.... to get to the point , the sanitary folks I'm sure charge the builder a fee to install the line, including the cost to do the cross cut and then repair it. Why should the tax payers of Ocean Pines then pay to have our own people come out and re-patch the poor job done by the sanitary people? Minor item? Perhaps. But how many times is this happening over the course of a year, and how many instances of similar wastefulness are bleeding money from OPA? |
