You make a great point about the real estate tax base. As I recall, the property values went up something like 40 to 80%. Certainly neither personal income nor the County budget has increased that much since the last evaluation. Seems there was little or no inclination to reduce taxes as a result of the windfall. Talk of rainy day funds, etc means little. When government takes money it ends up spending every cent, one way or the other. Nor would using the windfall to pay off debt end up reducing taxes. I am certainly no expert on taxes, except in one area - I know they rarely go down. The inevitability of death and taxes. Doesn't pay to think too much about either. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe; As I remember it police officers sign up for three years, that includes the six month school we pay for and send them to ., They use us to get the schooling and experience so they can apply to larger better paying forces. As far as govt costs and spending I've been more concerned with our County Commissioners, They feel like they are doing us a favor by suggesting they may not raise our tax rate. They don't look at the large tax increases they received because of our high increased home valuations. Have a nice day dick brady
