Right now the OPVFD has a section of the CH for housing two pieces of equipment and a parking lot for the firemen to use when they take the fire apparatus out. They will need a new area (building) to house the equipment that is in the Northside Fire Station. Current regulations (county) require a certain number of parking spaces to go with the building. Where are you getting the information the new facility "will house .... a second floor for meetings and community events, etc."? What community events? What meetings? Gail |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Working hand in hand with the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department, we are exploring options for a new stand alone building to house fire apparatus. Baloney. The board already voted to give the fire department a chunk of White Horse Park. Saying OPA is assisting the OPVFD to build a "stand alone building to house fire apparatus" is not accurate. It gives the reader the impression the FD is going to build a little building to park a couple of pieces of fire equipment inside, and not that this new facility will house equipment, a large parking lot, a second floor for meetings and community events, etc. This spin is exactly what the prior BOD was feeding members. Nothing appears to change. |
