What can I do to help. I believe the board is of a mind to build this new marina, and soon. I have never seen the petition, nor has anyone I know. There needs to be a strong coalition. Thanks. Marty Clarke |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: With respect to the proposed new marina, does any official of OPA, Inc. or the board have a detailed projection of the year by year total incremental life-cycle cash flows for this project and the associated underlying assumptions made for each cash flow line item in the projection? For that matter, does any official of OPA, Inc. or the board have a detailed projection of the year by year total incremental life-cycle cash flows for each alternative in the comprehensive plan with the associated underlying assumptions made for each cash flow line item in these projections? from: "a nice place to live" ***************************************** HUH?? Ok, yeah ....sure.....right! The "Simple Housewife" version of this is: Last year's OP Board has unmitigated gall to spend so much of our money to see if they can get away with destroying the most beautiful spot in Ocean Pines to accommodate about fifty people. I don't CARE how much money they make, or don't make! It doesn't seem to be a money-making venture anyway and there are empty spots at the other marina. This park belongs to all of us and they have NO RIGHT to do this.. in my opinion! If they could put in the extra slips without disturbing the park area, I wouldn't care, but I seriouly doubt that is the case. This is NOT about money! It is about the use of public space. I just got finished with a law suit in Silver Spring to save a public park. We ended up going all the way to the Court of Appeals in Annapolis. It took a lot of time and money but we kept a college from descecrating a park that was willed to the state. They knew we would not give up, so decided to put the building in another place. You just have to stand up for what is right sometimes and not allow powerful people to take what belongs to the public. I think THIS is one of those times! I hope others feel as strongly as I do and will be ready to take action. No action can be taken until the studies are completed but all those who care should be ready and put the board on notice NOW! If they know that enough folks are seriously angry....enough so to sue....they would probably stop the whole thing. The lawyer who wrote the letter that was in the newspaper is serious. He lives here in Silver Spring but his OP property over looks the possible "boat parking lot". I live no where close to the Swim and Racquet Club and my personal space is not threatened, but I feel as strongly as any of those who live nearby and I know many others who are not near neighbors who feel the same way.
