Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Seacrets Lease 4/15/2010 Msg# 738865

I would have loved to had the opportunity to speak on this matter and I am sure that others would have also. I have known for at least four years that Seacrets was gradually moving over into our property. No one seemed to care when that was mentioned. ( of course there are few people who are around to remember how the place looked years ago.) Nancy: I wish you had come to the Special Meeting last summer about the Seacrets lease. That would have been the perfect time to express any and all of your concerns; I had no idea the property was getting stuff built on it; my concern was the 99 year lease and verbally let my sentiments be expressed at that meeting. If I had known, I could have said something on your behalf. Sorry. Linda |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: An open process might have allowed you, for example, to express your concern about the parking spaces. The concern you express is no more important than any other concerns held by any association member. Finally, it sounds like you really don't want to be informed overall, just on your own particular interest. Then again, that's the way it is with most people. Joe, You are absolutely right! In the "real world" there would have been open hearings about such a thing and those making the decisions would have had the opportunity to hear all the concerns of the citizens. The membership of Ocean Pines does not have to opportunity to do this, and it seems to be up to you to FERRET OUT the information and pass it along to us. I would have loved to had the opportunity to speak on this matter and I am sure that others would have also. I have known for at least four years that Seacrets was gradually moving over into our property. No one seemed to care when that was mentioned. ( of course there are few people who are around to remember how the place looked years ago.) They have behaved like the old "camel with the nose under the tent" story. If Seacrets is going to occupy our property and deny us the parking spaces, then any Ocean Pines boater should be allowed to use their dock to access our Bayside property. That and some extra parking spaces would make the deal a bit easier to take. I know that you care little about the parking issue, because you have likely never had to go round and round for a place. Everyone has their own concerns and I wish that we had a place to express them where the BoD and GM would listen. Nancy |
