Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Board Slashes Assessment Msg# 775123

Marty, what you said or did prior to your letter/commentary of around 2/12 had zero impact on the board. Zero. So.... I believe it is reasonable to say the debate over the budget as far as association members go did not begin until on or after 2/12. On 2/9, or thereabout, but prior to your letter, the board had given final instructions to the GM on what they wanted in the budget. If it had not been for your letter at the end of the process, the budget would have been approved with a $45 increase. Four board members decided on 2/16 they did not want to approve what they had told the GM they would approve on 2/9. The only event in the interim was your letter and some people showing to protest solely as a result of your letter. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe: "sparked the debate over the budget at the very conclusion of the yearly process" Give me a break! "The very conclusion of the yearly process"? I picked up the very first budget book hot off the press late in the afternoon of January 6, 2011. The so called "yearly process" only lasted seven weeks. I started screaming about the method used to prepare the budget and the use of a pre-determined $853.00 assessment as a starting point on January 7, 2011. Marty |
