Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Board Slashes Assessment Msg# 775892

Joe: zero impact I just finished watching the video of the meeting last Thursday. Speaking of "zero impact". One of our board members tried to justify the proposed increase by the lack of the promised $800,000.00 in road funds from the County pass through of Federal Highway road taxes. The problem is that Ocean Pines Association did not do any road paving last year and plans for none this year. So, the shortage of the road tax income has "zero impact" on the proposed budget. Zero! For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Marty, what you said or did prior to your letter/commentary of around 2/12 had zero impact on the board. Zero. So.... I believe it is reasonable to say the debate over the budget as far as association members go did not begin until on or after 2/12. On 2/9, or thereabout, but prior to your letter, the board had given final instructions to the GM on what they wanted in the budget. If it had not been for your letter at the end of the process, the budget would have been approved with a $45 increase. Four board members decided on 2/16 they did not want to approve what they had told the GM they would approve on 2/9. The only event in the interim was your letter and some people showing to protest solely as a result of your letter. |
