organizational maintenance has to do with motivation within an organization. In particular when various departments of an organization come into conflict with each other to the detriment of the organization as a whole. One common battleground is the budget. For example, which dept should get more funding, golf, food and beverage, parks and rec??? Another common misconception is that supervisors with more subordinates should be paid more that those with fewer, motivating managers to grow their departments. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Do you understand the concept of organizational maintenance? Do you understand the concept of association members wishing to know where their money goes? I'm not saying that any of this is going on, just that there may be many more motives in the numbers than just finance. Gosh. Do ya think? I like the concept of the Peter Principle myself: "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence". |
