From what I find on the internet, a definition of organizational maintenance is more along the lines of: Maintenance that is the responsibility of and performed by a using organization on its assigned equipment. Its phases normally consist of inspecting, servicing, lubricating, and adjusting, as well as the replacing of parts, minor assemblies, and subassemblies. I didn't find any references to OM involving "motivation" or budget fights. If you can point me to some references I'd like to take a look. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: organizational maintenance has to do with motivation within an organization. In particular when various departments of an organization come into conflict with each other to the detriment of the organization as a whole. One common battleground is the budget. For example, which dept should get more funding, golf, food and beverage, parks and rec??? Another common misconception is that supervisors with more subordinates should be paid more that those with fewer, motivating managers to grow their departments. |
