For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Who are the members of that group? I have not yet been able to ascertain the members of the new private committee. The source for the existence of such a secret group is one at the highest levels of OPA, but interestingly, not all board members even know the group exists. However, other sources indicate members may include some of those who were in the group that investigated bringing outside golf management to OPA. Maybe Pete Gomsak is a member of the secret group. One of the problems with this childish secrecy is it only creates more problems, since nothing is secret around here for very long. Do you know if since you raised the issue of lack of meetings whether the members of the Golf Advisory Committee scheduled a meeting? If not, what do you know why they haven't scheduled a meeting? As reported here weeks ago, the chairman of the Golf Advisory Committee has not scheduled a meeting for a year, saying the meetings are useless because Casper is managing the course and the board pays no attention to the committee anyway. OPA left the Golf Advisory Committee off of a list of committees in the last OPA news letter. This, you can bet, was not by mistake. It also coincides with the GM obviously desiring to again get advice from a private group, a move made easy by the lack of action by the chair of the Golf Advisory Committee. So, now we have the board receiving no direct advice from committees on some of the most important issues facing Ocean Pines -- how to spend millions on the YC and CC, and the golf course operation. The board's only source of advice is the GM and he is providing that advice based on closed-door committee meetings. Bill Rakow said he would not serve on a committee open to association members. I'm patiently waiting for an association member to say he/she will not serve on a committee if it is not open to association members. Perhaps I have too much patience or too little understanding of the desire to be an insider. |
