Using 6000 homes paying for water at $150.00 per quarter
I THINK the basic charge is the same whether or not a lot has a home. It is the basic charge for availability. $3,600,000.00 a year That minimum charge is for water and sewage. From county web site: "Domestic minimum water and sewer $133.00" Seems like you, and others, are making a judgement without having ever seen the budget for the Ocean Pines Service Area or realizing the charge is not just for water. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I just did some quick math. We built our home in '95 when there were about 6000 homes in the pines if I'm not mistaken. Using 6000 homes paying for water at $150.00 per quarter, $600.00 per year is $3,600,000.00 a year so since '95 we're talking about $64,000,000.00! That's just what OP pays, no idea what the rest of the county pays. I can't imagine the cost to install pipe and maintain it over the years cost more than Sixty Four large. I know, they pay to treat the water, workers, repairs, etc. etc. but it still seems to me that we are paying way too much especially if you only use water a couple of months a year and on weekends at that. I would like to hear what other folks think? |
