Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 879123

Hi Nancy,
I believe in a previous post regarding golf course operations, Marty Clark stated that $64 goes out of our annual assessment to pay for the golf course. If it were the $120 you suggest, that would be $1,012,000.00, based on the approximately 8440 properties we currently have in OP. I believe Marty's $64 is more in line with what actually goes to the golf operation. If Marty's information is correct (I believe it is) then the golf course costs us approximately $5.35, each month per property. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I would like to know how much the golf course effects my homeowner fees. Is it $20.00 a year or $100.00. The amount could make a difference in how someone stands. The fees are already high and was surprised to find out that if our family wants to enjoy the pools or beach we have to pay additional fees. Thanks, Chris Hi Chris, Welcome to Ocean Pines. I believe that about $120 is the amount that has been mentioned for the share of our assessments that goes to pay for golf losses. I think that is quite a lot when you consider all the other things that our money supports. You do NOT have to pay to use the beach. It is open to ALL. What you have to pay for is a parking spot ...if you want to go early in the day.. up to mid afternoon. The Beach Club Parking Pass comes with swim passes for the Beach Club pool only. For the other pools, you do need to buy a Swim Membership. We have had a Beach Parking Pass for 45 years but have rarely been asked to show it in recent years, because now that the children are grown up ...we choose to go to the beach later in the day when the sun is not so brutal. It seems the sun worshipers start to clear out about 3:30 or soon after, and there is plenty of parking. No one checks. If you want to go to the beach all day...or have visitors who will want to go...you will need to get a Parking Pass or park on the street. On any holiday, parking on the street will be VERY difficult. Ocean Pines is a wonderful place, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we have. Nancy |
