You may not be one but you sure think like one if you believe that spending more money tearing something down that you have already spent money to construct saves you money in the end!
However existing depreciation would work out, there are still the new depreciation costs we would all pay when a new Country Club or other capital is spent... maybe another $5 million or so? No one knows, and currently the sky is the limit when it comes to golf course spending. So, we would spend some amount of millions and pay for it with funds from 5-year plan part of our current assessment, and immediately begin paying more in depreciation the moment the new clubhouse is completed. Also, depreciation is more or less for future replacement purposes. If we just spent $1 million on greens, and we did, there would be no need to continue collecting greens depreciation in the assessment as there would be no need to replace them. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have no problem with association members deciding via referendum. Do you? No, I have no problem with our property owners deciding association issues by voting. After all, that's how we got a new Yacht Club, thank goodness. Even if it does have split block on the outside. I'm no accountant, but if greens are removed they might not continue in depreciation. You may not be one but you sure think like one if you believe that spending more money tearing something down that you have already spent money to construct saves you money in the end! |
