Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 879526

I know that referendum must be specific in wording. All I am saying is that you and COPE tell all the facts not just keep saying that the golf course losses will go away and we will save that money. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I do believe that the open space will increase property values and be an amenity of much greater value to all association members than is a golf course. Maintenance of the open space would certainly be a cost, and I've never suggested otherwise. As for a fair and all inclusive referendum, the ground rules are spelled out in our by-laws, by laws approved in 2008 via referendum by the membership. If a referendum is the result of a successful petition by association members, then the referendum material will contain a recommendation/position from the Board of Directors, in addition to the information provided by the petitioners. As for a referendum to force a lease, even if successful there is no guarantee anyone will want to lease the operation on any given lease terms that protect OPA interests. The primary issue, as I see it, is for association members to first decide whether or not they want a golf course or open space. If the answer is golf course, then look at possible changes to how the course is managed, leased, or whatever. |
