Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 878653

A concern would be turning the 18 holes into an OP boardwalk, attracting all visitors regardless of intention.
From an informed opinion, does the on-going deficit from the golf operation result from operational issues: sales & marketing, club management, operating cost; or from physical grounds upkeep and maintenence? If the cash drain results from management decisions, new direction could rescue the aamenity. If however; the primary cause is course maintenance, specifically drainage, a greater issue exists. As a golfer, I play several area courses, and would not want to see this amenity closed. As a HOA member, I do realize that the significant cash drain should not continue without a plan. My concern with the 'open/green space' concept is the regulation of use and subsequent enforcement of rights/privileges |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: would it be allowed to be enjoyed by only HOA members, or all residents of Worcester County, or all visitors to our area? The board would have to make that decision. I'm not sure how simple access restriction on people waling in a park area could be enforced. To my knowledge OPA does not currently restrict access to any of our public facilities. One thing is for sure -- a referendum on this would not be a foregone result. |
