Thanks for the financial impact #'s. If the course were to be turned into 'open/green space'; would it be allowed to be enjoyed by only HOA members, or all residents of Worcester County, or all visitors to our area? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Is there any way to quantify what % of the current HOA assessment is earmarked for the overall golf operation? Currently about $120, although OPA would probably dispute that number. Last year when I first broached the info that OPA would be spending $10 million of assessment income on golf over a 10-year period, Bob Thompson commented at a public hearing that my numbers were not correct. Then he added, "But it's getting there." Believe me; it is there. Is there an assumption that if the golf operations were to be either privatized or discontinued, there would be a resulting reduction in HOA fees? Not necessarily because there would still be maintenance costs for open space and those would be a part of the assessment, but the land would be open to enjoyment by a far greater percentage of those paying the bill. Future capital costs would be substantially reduced as well. |
