Is there any way to quantify what % of the current HOA assessment is earmarked for the overall golf operation?
Currently about $120, although OPA would probably dispute that number. Last year when I first broached the info that OPA would be spending $10 million of assessment income on golf over a 10-year period, Bob Thompson commented at a public hearing that my numbers were not correct. Then he added, "But it's getting there." Is there an assumption that if the golf operations were to be either privatized or discontinued, there would be a resulting reduction in HOA fees? Not necessarily because there would still be maintenance costs for open space and those would be a part of the assessment, but the land would be open to enjoyment by a far greater percentage of those paying the bill. Future capital costs would be substantially reduced as well. |
