I share your concern regarding the frying pan to fire scenario.  I am even more concerned now than I was before, given no board member voiced in the affirmative that the board had done due diligence regarding vetting LU.  

I also choose to be supportive of the decision to go with LU and sated this in a previous post to you several days ago.  I also stated that, in my opinion, their approach to increasing membership from OP owners was the best way to bring our golf amenity back to a viable entity in OP.  

I also thought LU presentation was very good.    

I thought they gave a good presentation.  That said, our board needs to go far beyond just their presentation in making the decision to enter into a contract with LU.  Hopefully the board has done so, but no board member is offering any evidence of that.

On the other hand, Thompson's approach can only harm the association.  It has already.

That is your opinion, but one that I don't share.  Needless to say Thompson has angered some members of the board by airing his questions in public.  But as Ted Moroney has stated, Mr. Collins or another board member could have put to rest any concerns regarding the due diligence issue by simply stating that due diligence had been done.

From a personal standpoint, I would not have posed those questions in public.  However, since they have been asked, they need to be answered.
