Wonder if it would make any sense to convert it to an "executive" par 3 course and turn the rest into a park / nature preserve?
I read the article and it got me wondering. What if one of the golf courses down here decided to try the far out suggestions discussed in interviews with Nicklaus and others to stop the bleeding? For example using 16" holes, 12 hole games, larger balls etc. Would golfers that purchase packages be sure to include that type course in their selection because it would be so unique? Kinda like all bar hoppers coming to OC include Seacrets on their list and then the others take their chances. Of course the decision to take that road would involve a lot of courage. If it ever happened I suspect it would be on one of the privately owned courses where the decision would lie with one individual. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm surprised the number isn't higher. Seems like the last twenty years or so golf has really taken a beating. That being said I don't see our course being closed, for some association members it would be akin to "Armageddon". Wonder if it would make any sense to convert it to an "executive" par 3 course and turn the rest into a park / nature preserve? |
