Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Cordwell on Golf Msg# 915720

Bad form, poor judgement, lack of civility, has invaded our highest public institutions where people are expected to work together for the common good...no surprise that it exists in OPA land. I tend to agree that Cordwell not the first to be outspoken publicly on disagreeing with board action. A certain board member does just that on this forum...explain the difference? sadly the standard for civil discourse has deteriorated, probably exacerbated by social media such as forums | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Mr. Cordwell has every right to express his opinions, as do we all. You're certainly not shy in that regard. I believe Cordwell has a higher responsibility as a board member, especially a much greater responsibility to avoid making unconfirmed and very public accusations about a company the board is currently negotiating with to manage the golf course. I suspect you know what brought this on and who made the phone call initially and spoke with a disgruntled employee, even from your spot down there in Margaritaville. One initial is B. When will that individual come out of the shadows? If Marty had said those things, you would have simply said "That's just Marty" or words to that effect. Nope. On the other hand, Marty said much less damaging stuff than Cordwell and you were one of those bringing charges against Marty and allowing Joe Moore to spend about $12,000 of association member assessments to investigate Clarke.... with zero results. The real question still remains: Has due diligence RE Landscapes Unlimited been done, by whom, with what commentary? What makes you think all that is not a part of the negotiation process? The board has yet to sign any contract with Landscapes Unlimited. What I see here is a public concerted effort by three board members, the GM and a number of golf members to scuttle this negotiation process. One thing I know for a fact --- you would never have tolerated this when you were president and in control of a majority. Heads would have rolled. |
