Mr. Owens: I believe Mr. Reynolds used the word pure and I used the word direct. However, the words can be used, and are, interchangeably when making a distinction between a representative democracy and one that has more direct citizen involvement.
If memory serves me Switzerland has a direct democracy….not exactly a bastion of anarchists. Hope this helps |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where:
OY ! I'm not sure what definitions you are giving to "pure democracy" and I'm not sure I've ever heard the term "direct democracy". A republic is not exactly a democracy and there seem to be a lot of folks who don't quite understand that. Perhaps there is some overthinking going On here. We need some explanation of terms used. Anarchy? |
