Gosh Nancy. Big assumption on your part that the non-resident owners are the ones who don't vote. Could be the exact opposite. Obviously all have a vote, but those who don't vote have zero impact on anything. People who do not pay assessments should not vote on anything....unless there is some REALLY good reason they didn't pay. Actually there is no problem as those who don't pay can't vote, per the DRs, and their reason for not paying doesn't matter. property owners...full and part time need to be more involved in decisions. Based on attendance at board meetings that would currently be about 25 people. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The important thing is to gather the inputs from the owners in order to identify our needs and wants. Thereafter the BOD has a clear mandate from their constituents and must (should) act on the wishes of the majority and not a vocal minority.Ev I have mixed emotions. Not sure we would want to manage by polls. The input might be worth consideration, but I'm not sure I'd want to see the board act on every item deemed needed/wanted via a poll. By the way, even in board elections only a little over 50% typically vote so I'm not sure how much of a return would result. Let the folks who DO CARE, and take the trouble to be informed be part of the decision making. Part time people should have a say in what happens in Ocean Pines, and an electronic poll is a good way to do that. Our email addresses can be sent back with our ASSESSMENT PAYMENT or a ballot, and that way hopefully kept current. If someone changes a email address, they can let OPA know. People who do not pay assessments should not vote on anything....unless there is some REALLY good reason they didn't pay.
