Hi Ev As I'm reading Joe's listing I'm again wondering WHEN will this BOD say enough is enough, and show the GM the exit door ????????????

Seems likely that many folks on this forum could add their own pet peeves, more GM snafus examples to the list. At the top of my list is the river rock controversy.

Most readers here will recall that YC was originally promoted as having river rock on its exterior. And the design plans called for that finish on various parts of the building. Seems the GM "decided himself" to drop the river rock, and go with a form of concrete block exterior, Seems he hid this decision from the board, and from the public for many months (perhaps approaching a Yr?). Seems his "excuse" was that county zoning wouldn't allow it. But we've seen that various rock exterior building designs often been allowed locally, (sometimes perhaps after a requested exception). But the GM never pursued exceptions or permits for the rock.

Most of these facts had to be "dug out of the woodwork". Seemed that the GM attempted to."bob & weave", and was not forthcoming at all. Indeed he successfuly hid this fact for quite a while.

So now OP has what many deem the ugliest YC they've ever seen. Comparisons of its appearance have mentioned similarities to a warehouse, a Walmart, even a jail.

This seems one of the biggest of the GM's snafus to me

What happened? Surely you cannot expect me, you most humble servant, to answer such a question. The GM marches to his own drummer. For example:

Hey board of directors. Don't outsource the YC. Allow me to continue managing the Yacht Club along with our terrific food and beverage manager Joe Reinhart. A year later he fired Joe.
Hey board. The Yacht Club pool is cracked after Hurricane Sandy but not because I emptied it in winter. It had to be empty for safety. Some months later -- Hey board. The pool was actually filled when it cracked. I don't know why I told you it was empty. A month later. Hey board. The pool really was full, and here is the photo to prove it. (except the photo was not at the time of the storm that caused the pool to crack due to being empty)
Hey board. I hired this really great experienced guy to run the Yacht Club. Ooops. Had to fire him at the end of the first summer.
Hey board. Golf operations are really looking exciting.
Hey board. The YC banquet facility is booked through next year.
Hey board. Golf bookings will be down this spring but I'm not gonna tell you how I know that. And a GM direct quote to the board at a public board meeting: "I'm not going to debate my General Manager report."
