| I agree Jack, success in life has a lot to do with who you know and contacts. If education were the only key to making money every nuclear physicist would be a multi gazillonaire. Yet Bill Gates was college drop out. He had the vision and the drive that made Microsoft. I doubt if he would have graduated from Wharton School that he would have done much better and probably worse. Look at what these financial geniuses did to the economy in 2008. Their special gifts were, credit default swaps, Leveraged buyouts, derivatives, sub prime loans. etc. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yes I realized that the school is not in the league with Ivy league schools, but it didn't have the same price tag. I have seen studies showing that the main benefit of an Ivy League education are connections with student peers who make good post graduate business contacts not necessarily the quality of education. |
I suppose Ivy League status also could look good on the resume'. It has been a while but during my financial planning years a statistic we used were that a majority of millionaires in this country did not even have a college degree.
