As to the rest, since I am thankfully able to bear the cost and insurance of going private, I'd rather leave those services for those less fortunate. The VA has had some well publicized troubles in the past serving the veteran population. I can't believe that they have an endless supply of doctors and staff to meet the demand as it is.

I know that there are many who disagree with me, as I have had these conversations in the past. Years ago, I gave up my subscription to one of those military officers magazines because all they seem to be about was more and more benefits. I think the active duty, especially the lower grades deserve more support than they ever seem to get and the excuse always seems to be budgetary.
