management to step up to the plate
Hi Bill, I will tell what is the matter , I am a member of Ocean Pines paying my membership fee for the year. My cost for a round of golf is 22 bucks. You want a non member to come in and pay 2 bucks less then a paying member. Help me out here , If they want to play for 22 bucks, join the club, Treated like outcasts, really, give me a break. BTW go on and on with this, you don't have a leg to stand on. BTW , I am a member that pays for the full year and only lives here 6 months a year, Well Bill, I'll tell you what, You didn't tell me anything. You didn't tell anyone anything. You are an individual and are free to do as you like. The 19th Holers only play nine holes in the afternoon on Wednesdays when there are very few golfers on the course. According to your math they should only pay $11. However they are quite willing to pay $20 even though Ocean City only charges them $15, Ocean Resorts charges them $19 etc. I might also point out they are a group, haven't you ever heard of group rates. They average about 30 members per round at $20/ round, that equals $600. Oh, BTW, they play from April thru November. That is 8 month of golf plus whatever they spend at the turn grill. That's with little to no disruption to OP golf. Now if the Board, the general Manager and the golf Manager were on the ball, they would get together with other golf managers and have their members play here on the Wednesdays when the 19th Holers are away and it would bring in a substantial sum to offset some of the golf losses. There is a lot more competition in this area than there used to be, its time for OP golf to step up to the plate so to speak and take on the competition head on instead of making excuses for mediocre management. I was an OP golf member for 7 or 8 years and I was only here part time. One of the tenants LU based their proposal was to bring back former members of OP golf and increase play within OP property owners. That was last spring, what has happened to promote this in the interim? Frank |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Here is a question I asked (in the presence of witnesses) never answered by the golf manager, why is it unethical for OP residents who belong to the 19th Holers to be allowed to play Wednesday afternoons between 1:00 and 2:00 PM for $20 when every other course in the area lets them play for $20 or less. These guys have over 60 members, all but two are assessment paying residents. They support the golf operation with their assessment dollars, yet are treated as outcasts by their own golf club. There is almost no one on the course Wednesday afternoons, why wouldn't you bend over backwards to accommodate these guys. I could go on and on with this but I think this example covers what is wrong with golf in OP.
