Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Money is No Object Msg# 945671

Although the amended version lacks substance, it opens the door for progress, unless of course, Mr. Thompson thoroughly ignores investigating the benefits of immediately dedicating courts for Pickleball and providing the Platform Tennis Courts that their membership have been promised for years.
Tom, surely you realize the Terry forces are not giving up the master plan for Manklin, even if some things in your motion even happen in the short term. The $150,000 passed in the Terry motion is only needed to support eventual completion of the master plan. Terry even states as much when he said the work in his motion will allow some future board to complete the master plan. In the event the board decides to actually adopt what you propose, the $150,000 is money down a sewer. Terry knows that; Thompson knows that. What is needed is a new board majority voting to dump the master plan. Unfortunately if it happens it will come after the election and the $150,000 will already be down the sewer. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ms. Scott, I am wondering why you are questioning my vote and even Mr. Collins and Stevens for voting for the Terry amended motion. Even though myself, Stevens and Collins preferred my motion to the amended one, all three of us understand the importance of compromise to benefit the whole. It was my opinion, based on the conversation, that my motion would not pass as written. Although the amended version lacks substance, it opens the door for progress, unless of course, Mr. Thompson thoroughly ignores investigating the benefits of immediately dedicating courts for Pickleball and providing the Platform Tennis Courts that their membership have been promised for years. The frustration in the manner in which management has handled this issue has been building up for years, as Mr. Cordwell demonstrated at our last Board meeting. If the Board did not pass this motion, the issue would continue to languish with no resolution in sight, and that certainly does not serve in the best interest of our community. Tom Herrick |
