It is time the pickleball and platform tennis issue is resolved and to do so in a cost effective manner and in the best interest of our community. For that very reason is why you got six yes votes in support of your motion. At least four other board members recognized this and supported you.
I find it difficult to believe any fully informed association member following all this closely could be so naive as to believe the above. According to Mr. Reynolds the two tennis courts are already lined for pickleball and dedicated for pickleball use. Is he wrong on this issue? If he is correct, what does your motion change regarding the pickleball courts? Anyone can visit the courts and see the painted lines for pickleball. Been there for a year or longer. There may be some issue with hours of use, but a call to Bob Thompson would clarify that for you. I do question the comments Mr. Stevens made in his communication to the Bayside Gazette. His comments state that your motion as amended (and one that he voted for) is a farce. Given Mr. Stevens statement one does question Mr. Stevens vote. If in Stevens view the motion is a farce, how is his vote a compromise to benefit the whole? Perhaps you should ask Dave Stevens. In my view the Stevens letter was convoluted and not very understandable for the average reader who does not follow all this stuff |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I am wondering why you are questioning my vote and even Mr. Collins and Stevens for voting for the Terry amended motion. Even though myself, Stevens and Collins preferred my motion to the amended one, all three of us understand the importance of compromise to benefit the whole. Questioning your vote? I don't question your vote, I have defended your vote. Mr. Reynolds and others are questioning your vote, even stating that you put forth a useless motion after the vote on Mr. Terry's motion. I don't think your motion is useless and I certainly understand the importance of compromise to benefit the whole. Although the amended version lacks substance, it opens the door for progress, unless of course, Mr. Thompson thoroughly ignores investigating the benefits of immediately dedicating courts for Pickleball and providing the Platform Tennis Courts that their membership have been promised for years. According to Mr. Reynolds the two tennis courts are already lined for pickleball and dedicated for pickleball use. Is he wrong on this issue? If he is correct, what does your motion change regarding the pickleball courts? If the Board did not pass this motion, the issue would continue to languish with no resolution in sight, and that certainly does not serve the best interest of our community. On this we both agree! It is time the pickleball and platform tennis issue is resolved and to do so in a cost effective manner and in the best interest of our community. For that very reason is why you got six yes votes in support of your motion. At least four other board members recognized this and supported you. I would like to think that Mr. Stevens voted yes for the same reason but, given his recent comments, why he voted yes is questionable. |
