Re: cordwell vs Collins
here is how I saw it ... Looked like Collins was already having a bad day when he joined the meeting. unfortunately he let his emotions reflect poorly as to an apparent attack (verbally) on cordwell. This is the first time I recall Collins ever "going off the rails" . Cordwell on the other hand uses his typical lack of emotional intelligence by threatening physical violence on Collins . But for Jacobs asking for calm who knows what goes down next. For the rest of the meeting Collins body language demonstrates regret and becomes withdrawn...and being the bigger man tries to apologize to Cordwell which he refuses...while making no effort to apologize to Collins for an even greater transgression. not respectful civil board behavior but I would give Collins a one time pass...Cordwell no. And by the way Joe if this behavior is off the rails (which it is) when will you admit that DT's behavior is off the rails for the highest political office? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: As I understand what happened at the board meeting: a motion was passed to direct the General Manager to refurbish, and relocate the current playground within the Manklin Creek Sports Complex and to resurface the parking lot located adjacent to the playground and racquet courts. An amount of money not to exceed $150,000 was approved to accomplish those actions. Yes, the playground is being moved and some sort of work related the community gardens. The only reason to move the playground is to accommodate future pickleball courts. As Marty said, "The camel's nose is under the tent." This is exactly what Terry wanted, any rhetoric to the contrary. As for Herrick's motion, it was a waste of time. Does anyone think this GM will recommend what Herrick suggests. On the other hand, the GM might just do so to keep things quiet temporarily. However, given a GM compliant board after the election -- the entire Manklin Meadows project will be completed. As for the overall meeting, both Collins and Cordwell were off the rails.... way off the rails. Collins could not stop speaking at an extreme yelling tone. He kept demanding Terry answer some question. Of course Terry is under no obligation to answer any question from Collins, or any other board member. Maybe Collins is just yelling for the camera as he prepares to run for re-election. Cordwell at one point threatened Collins with physical violence. I seriously considered leaving so as not to be caught in the middle of a brawl. Cordwell also apparently said something to a person in the room about making comments when their assessment was not paid. This was in the middle of the meeting. The most disappointing thing for me was hearing how the board discussed this entire issue after going into closed session at the last meeting. Today I even heard there was some issue about whether the board ended the closed session and then talked about this. Either way is a disgrace. This board is not capable of governing properly. I have never seen such an incapable board in my 27 or so years, and I've seen a few doozies. From a purely personal perspective, I'd like to see Herrick remain and replace all six other directors with new fiscal conservative board members, board members amenable to considering a new General Manager. |
